Racing

I recently rediscovered slot car racing. The local track Fast Lanes (Wards Corner off 275) has a great four lane track that has been a blast to race at. The car in the picture is a 1/32 M3. This is a really cheap hobby compared to my helicopters but fairly challenging and lots of fun. The cars are super scale. Double click on the images to get a high resolution version and note all the cool detail, like side exhausts, real clear headlights (see side box) completely detailed interior, alloy wheels with molded in disk brakes (slotted and drilled of course!

This particular car is a front motor shaft drive to the rear wheels. A bar magnet in the rear, just in front of the back wheels provides some down force but not so much to take the driving skill out of it. I'm currently trying to squeeze a lighting kit in under the body. Its REAL tight. Will give working head and taillights (which work under braking!) The stock tires look great but race like crap so these are aftermarket silicon slicks. I broke my spoiler launching off the big bank the first time out...ouch. A little glue should be good as new.

These are my buddy Bob's cars....
