Sky Dragon - New 50 size helicopter from Vario

Sky Dragon Full View

Exceptional design and a helicopter as uniquely individual Sky Dragon Pictogram
as its pilot: the Sky Dragon is a flying sensation, and you will fall in love with it the moment you see it. Inspired by the Colibri - lightweight, maneuvrable and with exemplary dynamics - the Sky Dragon is a highly refined and exciting helicopter.
The 8.5cc motor offers a convincing combination of power and high speed, and harmonises well with the carefully matched mechanics and metal clutch. The toothed-belt drive system is linked to a right hand rotation main rotor , and the reduction ratio is 9.5:1.
The pitch axis control system is de-coupled from the electronic swashplate mixer, and this makes an important contribution to the handling of the Sky Dragon as well as allowing you to use a low cost radio control system.
Your Sky Dragon features a driven tail rotor for autorotation purposes, making it an ideal model for 3D flying. The carbon fiber drive shaft between main gearbox and the tail rotor is ball raced, as are all mixer levers and bellcranks. The 450mm long flybar is fitted with slim paddles for enhanced agility in all manoeuvres. The rigid 20mm CFRP tailboom supports an extremely low-drag carbon-fiber vertical stabalizer.

Viper Control System Conventional mechanical linkage systems have their limits, and we at Vario have adopted an entirely new philosophy to overcome them. The result is the new Vario Obino system, which is protected by world-wide patents. We have not attempted to re-invent the helicopter itself, but we have done precisely that with the control system. Vario Obino technology was the basis for the >>DCS Direct Control Sytem<<. which represents a direct push-pull method of actuating the swashplate, without any bellcranks.
The roll and pitch-axis servos are mounted on a slide which ensures that the swashplate never carries out unwanted or distorted movements when the control system is operated. The swashplate is located within the mechanics, below the dome. This is made possible by the fact that the dome bearing has a large inner ring which allows the rotating rotor head pushrods to pass through the dome plate.
The actual mechanical system is based on a single-stage gearbox with a 9.29:1 reduction ratio (optional 8.66:1). The main rotor is right hand rotation. The width of the mechanics is 73mm and the side frames are made of CFRP. The tail rotor drive system is based on a ballraced carbon fiber shaft, and the tail control system also utilizes a CFRP tube and - as you would expect - a push-pull system. The set includes the push-pull linkage for roll, pitch axis, collective pitch and tailrotor functions, and all the components are ballraced.
The fuel tank can be installed aft of the main rotor shaft or in the front RC structure, whilst for special purposes it is possible to fit two tanks to double the usual flight times.
